Baby Rhino Just Keeps Trying To Wake Her Mom Up
What you’re about to see will break your heart, really. Poaching doesn’t just end a life, it also breaks apart an otherwise happy family. Recently a video was shared by the Protrack Anti-Poaching Unit on Facebook that showed the rescue of a orphaned white rhino in South Africa. This baby needed to be rescued because his mommy lay lifeless on the ground because of poachers who took her horn and life.
The baby rhino tries to wake his mommy up, but she doesn’t move. The poor thing doesn’t know that he’d never see her again. The young rhino runs around in circles, distressed and confused, not knowing what happened to his mommy.
The rescuers had to tranquilize the baby to take him back to safety. There are only about 20,000 white rhinos walking the earth right now and if poachers don’t stop, soon there will be none.
Last year alone, about 1,175 rhinos lost their lives to the cruel practice (source: Nationalgeographic).
It’s time to put an end to this. Raise your voice people. Make some noise. Help STOP poaching. No more orphaned rhinos.
