Japan is designing an invisible train to hit the tracks by 2018

If anyone’s likely to be dreaming up the outlandish trains into the future, it’s Japan. It’s mastered the levitating bullet train already, which includes been ferrying its passengers in the united states at speeds as high as 580 km/hour for days gone by two years, and Seibu Railway Co now. wants to create a train that’s virtually invisible to onlookers.

Designed by architect Kazuyo Sejima from japan firm Sanaa, who recently received a Pritzker Prize – the Nobel Prize of architecture – the train won’t be completely invisible (obviously), but super-reflective. Basically, it blends into its surroundings by reflecting them off its pristine mirrored surfaces.

What makes this project much more promising than a number of the ambitious things architects have already been discovering recently may be the fact that the look can be put on existing trains.
